Outdated travel censorship: the visa in-laws

So what, if I am a grown-up woman, educated, earn my own money, pay my own taxes or can buy my own flight tickets. But apparently, I still need a NOC from my husband to go abroad?

Welcome to the Great NOC Drama.

The legendary belief of households parroted by travel agencies, “Wife ko bahar jaana hai? Husband ka NOC chahiye, madam!” and is the mandate of regular Visa requirements.

Oh really? Unbelievable. Even if I want to travel for a VACATION abroad.

Enter… the Reality check of 2025, Not 1825

I need the HUSBAND’s NOC document. Because apparently some people still think marriage converts a woman into an attached accessory & needs permission of the HUSBAND to vacation abroad.

I understand, once upon a time, men were considered “guardians,” and women were treated like children. Unfortunately, some agencies never got the memo that times have changed.

Travel agents insist “Madam, NOC laaiye…” The Courts may feel, “Stop this patriarchal nonsense. A wife doesn’t need her husband’s permission to get a passport or travel.” But the ground reality is different.

I’m an adult, and I can travel. End of debate.

COME ON…..Requiring Permission Is As Absurd As It Sounds. Please understand that I’m married and not enrolled in boarding school.

A husband is a partner, not a principal. There is no hidden marriage clause saying, “with marriage, I surrender my travel rights to my husband.”

Travel is a human right, not a permission-based activity.

Interestingly, “Do men need permission from their wives? No? Exactly.”

Let’s be real. The idea that a wife needs her husband’s permission to travel abroad is Outdated and Illogical. Women just love to travel for work, fun, study, or simply because the flight tickets were on sale. So let women just Pack their bags, book their flight and travel like the free adult that they are. The only permission needed is from the immigration officer.
