How I work

Kiran Ashri
I close cases, not carry them.
Litigation should not be a waiting game. Every case has a shortest reasonable path to resolution and my job is to find it and take it. That means assessing the case early, having the documents ready before they are asked for, and not letting a hearing go to waste. I cannot control the court's list. I can control whether I am the reason a date is wasted.
I tell you if you do not need me.
Not every dispute needs a courtroom. Where a matter can be settled across the table, by negotiation, mediation or plain understanding, I say so in the first consultation, before a file is opened. My advice follows what is best for you, not what makes for the longest engagement. If resolution is possible without a fight, that is the path I recommend first. When litigation is the only way forward, I say that too.
I quote before I start.
Before any stage of work begins, you know what it will cost. Cases reach me at different stages, so I set out the scope and the fee for the stage you are at, in writing, before I start. No surprises and no hidden costs. Court fees, filing costs and anything I have to brief out are separate, and I tell you the figure before it is spent.
You hear from me on a schedule.
You hear from my chamber at set intervals on where your case stands, whether or not something has happened since we last spoke. Clear, regular communication is built into how I work. You do not chase me for an update.
What you tell me stays with me.
Whatever you share stays private, from the first minute of the first conversation, and whether or not you go on to instruct me. Your information is never used for publicity, name-dropping or social positioning. I do not discuss client matters, in public or in private.

Three ways on from here
